Back to the Raíces Visual Arts Home Page ABOUT THE ARTISTS Elaine Morales I am a 2D freelance artist specializing in character design. With an on going imagination like mine, coming up with new, unique and captivating characters is simple. I interpret things in an original way and I am always looking for the opportunity to share my ideas with the rest of the world. I have worked with clients on projects including graphic design, advertising, animation, merchandising, website design and children's book illustrations. For me, inspiration comes from not only the world all around us, but from what the mind has yet to create. There is no limit to the skills I can acquire as I pursue what I love most. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gerald Terado I am a 2D Artist who also enjoys working with charcoal and pastels. I gain my inspiration from music, film, and life itself. I am from Haskell, Wanaque NJ. I enjoy hanging out with friends and meeting new people. I am as outgoing as a person can be, possibly more. I am very easy to get along with and down to Earth. During my leisure time, I like to fit a jam session here and there with my guitar when I'm not sketching or continuing my 2D work. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Noel Douglas Jr. I am a graduate from the Art Institute of Philadelphia. I have always seen the world differently and I like to express it through my art. Art varies in styles, techniques and in perception. There is no one way to express oneself so I enjoy experimenting and trying new ways to bring my art to life. Art is alive in us all. Don't let it die. Nurture it. Let it breathe. Let it live. Don't let anyone tell you differently. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kameele Rivera I'm an animator and graphic designer. I'm also a native of Philadelphia and enjoy making dynamic art work. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enrique Guerrero I am an oil painter. I'm currently attending Rutgers Mason Gross of the Arts pursuing a BFA. My paintings consist mainly of human figures with symbolic images. I rely heavily on conceptual ideas which stem from my personal life stories and experiences. My style of painting is realistic with a splash of expressionism. Every painting I create has personal meaning but at the same time it serves as an open invitation to the public to view my thoughts and feelings and perhaps relate to them some how. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Leschak John Leschak is an artist, attorney and activist. He views all of these activities as expressions of his personality: one of empathy, creativity and resilience. To him art is a way of seeking satisfaction in life. Modern life is stressful; making ends meet can be very difficult and for many it is a constant struggle. John's art empathizes with the plight of society's marginalized victims. But, his art aims not merely to show manifestations of sorrow, but to overcome them by empowering the audience. John hopes his images give courage to its audience to take a stand and gain control of their lives. John is the managing attorney of the Law Office of John Leschak, which specializes in immigration law and criminal defense. He is also on the Board of Directors of Casa Freehold, a nonprofit community organization based in Freehold, NJ, dedicated to the fight for immigrant rights. He is a graduate of Hofstra Law School and The College of New Jersey, and a resident of Monmouth County. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jay Cowan I am a digital media artist by trade. In other words, how I pay the bills. I have worked in TV, Film, Web, and Graphics as a wide range of positions from an award winning Director to first day on the job Production Assistant. Yet, I have never lost the passion for putting my creativity to canvas. My mixed background is evident in my work by the majority of my pieces being a variety of mixed mediums. I draw inspiration from my life experiences whether it be relationships I've built/destroyed, movies I've fallen in love with, people I've met by chance, or the lyrics of my favorite song. Art is something that is in me and it comes out no matter what I am doing. I find the artistry in framing a shot for a scene equally as I do finding the right composition for my next painting. Any appreciation you will find in my work is the same I strive for in all of my endeavors. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- INTERESTED IN EXHIBITING WORK AT RAÍCES?
