RAÍCES VISUAL ARTS
The Raíces Visual Arts Program aims to serve as a catalyst for a vibrant art based community that will thrive in our community. Raíces provides the means for exploration and collaboration within the visual arts by making it accessible to everyone. Through exhibits, workshops and other hands on events, Raíces extends itself to the community as a whole encouraging all to explore the possibilities of the creative process. In addition to this, Raíces also serves as a vital resource for local artists. This is done by providing them with opportunities to further develop their talent via commissioning art work, providing a space for art work to be shown and giving artists the opportunity to curate their own exhibits. The Visual Arts Program benefits children and adults alike and invites everyone to get involved and get creative. Día de los muertos/Day of the DeadArt and Ancestors Visual Art Exhibit Curated by Amy Garas Exhibit Dates: October 28-November 12, 2011 Artist Reception: October 28, 6-10 PM First Reformed Church of New Brunswick This program is funded in part by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Middelsex County Cultural and Heritage Commission with assistance through a grant provided by New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State. FOR ARTISTS INTERESTED IN EXHIBITING WORK AT RAÍCES Raíces Cultural Center exhibits art by new and emerging artists. The space is open to artists from all socio-cultural backgrounds. Raíces emphasizes the creative work of artists who are looking to educate, inform and inspire the community to participate in the arts, erasing the boundary between audience and artist.
