RAÍCES DANCE AND MUSIC CLASSES

Education is a key component of cultural preservation and dissemination. Raíces offers classes and lessons in Hispano-Afro-Caribbean drumming, song and dance to children, adults and whole families. Raíces holds classes for the general public and can also be contracted to hold regular classes for youth and community groups, cultural centers and organizations, after-school programs, dance and music schools and more.

Raíces dance classes are offered to the public in the Hub City Teen Center's dance studios every Saturday.

Cultural Fusion Dance explores folkloric dances from the Caribbean such as Orisha dance, bomba, plena, son, rumba, and samba. These dances originated from a fusion of African, Spanish and Indigenous cultures in the Caribbean and their evolution throughout the diaspora (Children: 12-1 PM, Adults 1-2 PM). Beginners are welcome and encouraged to attend. First time students please arrive ten minutes early to register for the class. Wear loose clothing and bring plenty of water.

Drum & melodic instrument lessons are scheduled as private or small group lessons by appointment only.
