What Is the Matrix and How Does It Affect our Health?

matrixby Francisco G. Gómez

To answer that question would take volumes. It would require a vast amount of information on so many areas of human existence, so I will focus on aspects in the area of physical, but more so, mental health created by the matrix and relate a story that came to my attention this month.

Raíces was contacted last week by an individual who claims to be suffering from Hashimoto’s disease. So you may be asking, “what the heck is Hashimoto’s disease?” Well, this disease is a condition in which your immune system attacks the thyroid, a small gland at the base of your neck below your Adam’s apple. The thyroid gland is part of your endocrine system, which produces hormones that coordinate many of your body’s activities.

So why does the immune system start to attack the thyroid gland? Enter the adrenal glands; they are two tiny pieces of tissue residing on top of the kidneys that are pyramid in shape. These little guys are also responsible for releasing certain body regulating hormones and chemical messengers when your body require them.

Now you may ask, “so you’re saying that Hashimoto’s disease is caused by a malfunction of the adrenals that affect the thyroid?” No, I’m not saying that! The truth is that medical science still doesn’t know the reasons why Hashimoto’s disease occurs, but it does know that there is a common correlation between the adrenals not producing enough of a hormone called cortisol at proper levels which exacerbates an already compromised thyroid condition.

“So how do you know that this is a good indicator of Hashimoto’s?” I’ll answer your question with a question. Do you feel weakness or have fibromyalgia, lowered immune function, no libido, allergies, dark circles under the eyes, pain in the joints and muscles, dizziness, low levels of blood sugar, premature aging, cravings for food and salt, poor sleep, dry skin, cystic breasts, discolored lines under the nails, difficulty recuperating from stress, are too weak to deal with confrontation, low blood pressure, anxiety and depression? These are all possible signs of adrenal disfunction and some of them are also symptoms of thyroid problems. After all is said and done, don’t forget that there can be many other reasons for Hashimoto’s; however, as already stated, there is a definite correlation between faulty adrenals and a thyroid that doesn’t function properly.

This is what the individual who wrote us said the Endocrinologist diagnosed: “I have a diagnosis of Hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s, Adrenal fatigue, Fibromyalgia and depression.” The person also wrote: “I take thyroid replacement medication. My adrenal glands don’t make enough cortisol so I take cortisol too. I am on a gluten free, dairy free and sugar free diet. I eat mostly organic food and use only coconut oil. I try to meditate, but some days I just sleep all the time. On other days I just can’t sleep. I tried all kinds of supplements; I still take about ten different supplements everyday. I take diatomaceous earth, take mineral powders to make my body more alkaline; right now it’s very acidic. I also go for acupressure massage.” I’ll get to the meditation part shortly!

“So where’s the matrix part in this article?” I’m sure you’ve already thought about this, and for those of you who think it’s a motion picture starring Lawrence Fishburne and Keanu Reeves, well, it’s more than that. The truth is that we all live in the matrix whether we believe it or not. Take, for instance, the following realities that many Americans are now facing:

*people living paycheck to paycheck
*unemployment*DEBT (personal and national)
*contaminated food and environment
*upward spiral of diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Diabetes, mental illness, and many more
*no medical coverage
*endless war
*global climate change
*crime (civilian and governmental)
*global population growth out of control
*loss of rights as written in the Constitution
*homelessness
*a broken public school system
*unaffordable college tuition (this may change if Obama’s 2 year community college proposal happens)

People, the list can go on and on and on! But the list is not the point here; it’s how the list came about and how it affects our health and mental stability. And, while the list has dire consequences for all humans, if not addressed, these are all surmountable if we would only begin by looking at the items in the list on a personal level first.

Here’s the connection between the matrix, disease and meditation. Remember, it would be wise to review how you interact with these three on a personal level. Everything begins and ends with your mind, doesn’t it? From the moment you open your eyes in the morning until you close them and enter sleep, you are an unending mental dumpster of thought through the course of your day. Some of this crap even follows you in your dreams, be it good or nightmarish. If you go back a few paragraphs in this article, you will see that the individual who wrote to us about Hashimoto’s only mentions meditation using four words: “I try to meditate,” yet most of what she says is about the doctor’s diagnosis, medicines, physical maladies, food and standard treatments.

Can it be that the matrix is causing your disease on a sub-conscious level? This is not to say that there can’t be physiologic reasons for illness; after all, we do live in a very chemically toxic world. Here in America disease is mostly looked at from an organic point of view, and it is treated in the same way. Get a diagnosis and then treat the symptoms with an injection, pill, ointment, surgery or the many other treatments that are available, sometimes at a very high cost. Why is it that we always look outside of ourselves for answers, when all we need do is look within to understand why we feel sick.

meditationThe idea of simply sitting quietly and shutting down our thought processes is so alien to us here in the west. Many times it’s just seen as some hippy la la bull crap that foreigners brought over from places like India, China or any of the other places in the East. For those of you who may have tried meditation, you understand that it is not as simple as it may appear. As in the waking state, we are also bombarded endlessly with thought when we attempt to meditate.

I’m not going to give you a crash course on meditation here. One of the key aspects of meditation that I want you to ponder is that to see yourself clearly you must move away the constant debris that perpetually enters your mind, especially when you begin to learn how to meditate. As you progress in your meditation practice, you will find that your mind is eventually freed of all thought. You then will begin to see with the mind’s eye and understand all the things that disrupt your life physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Don’t forget that the matrix is designed to keep you in bondage physically, economically, emotionally and most of all mentally. When you find yourself in a state of mental slavery, all kinds of things are bound to happen, especially illness. If you can’t see past the chains that bind you, you are bound by them indefinitely; they may even cause your prolonged suffering and premature death.

Perhaps our friend with Hashimoto’s needs to try harder at meditation; the individual might see past the not so obvious detrimental aspects of the matrix and finally understand how he/she might have created the illness in the first place. Mother Nature has given us all the tools we need to discover what ails us and then provides the means to heal ourselves. Open up your imagination, but most of all open up your minds and understand that the matrix is real and it’s doing all kinds of things that are making you ill.
